Former QB suggests 'dream scenario' for Giants in 2024 NFL Draft

There is great debate about whether the Giants should draft quarterback Daniel Jones' replacement or build around him with one of the top playmakers in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Former QB and ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III believes, "if they're lucky," New York may be able to do both.

"Michael Penix Jr. is worthy of a top 10 pick. His tape is as good or better than any of the top QBs in this draft," Griffin III posted. "The dream scenario for the Giants would be to draft Malik Nabers at no. 6 and draft Penix in the second round if he falls there."

The Giants currently own the No. 6 overall pick in the first round, which many "experts" have predicted will be used on Nabers.

The LSU product is among the top three wide receivers in this year's draft class next to Ohio State's Marvin Harrison Jr. and Washington's Rome Odunze.

In 2023, Nabers posted an impressive 89 receptions for 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns. He would instantly become the No. 1 wide receiver New York has been missing.

Drafting Penix Jr. as well is the tricky part. The Giants don't have their own second-round pick (No. 39) due to their trade for edge-rusher Brian Burns earlier this offseason.

Instead, New York has No. 47 via the Seattle Seahawks and it can be argued that No. 39 isn't high enough to land Penix Jr., nonetheless No. 47.

Penix Jr. has been mocked all over the place since the beginning of the offseason due to his medical history. During his time at Indiana from 2018-21, he tore his ACL twice.

Still, the Washington product is intriguing after leading the Huskies to a national championship appearance last season and throwing for 9,544 yards, 67 touchdowns and 19 interceptions from 2022-23.

Penix Jr. could end up being a first-rounder when it's all said and done, putting the Giants' "dream scenario" out of question. However, if he is still on the board on April 26, a small trade-up could make a lot of sense for New York.
